How did Shackleton inspire his crew to such extraordinary levels of courage, unity and commitment? How did he create the teamwork and dedication so crucial to success in such extreme circumstances? And what separates his ship from the Canadian ship, the Karluk, which became trapped in the frozen Arctic in 1913, but came to a tragic end when 11 men died after degenerating into a culture of deceit, theft and chaos?
