This unique century-old steam train is still running on its original mountain track in the scenic Dandenong Ranges, only 40 km east of Melbourne, Victoria and a short 15 minute drive from Country Place and one hour from Flowerdale Estate.
Running every day of the year (except Christmas Day). Spectacular mountain views and cool fern gullies abound along the winding track from Belgrave to Emerald Lake (Lakeside) and Gembrook. Passengers have a range of tour options to choose from - journeys of one hour to a full day’s adventure.
The Railway is the sole survivor of four experimental lines used to develop rural areas in the early 1900's. Puffing Billy is now a major tourist attraction, its operation depending on hundreds of dedicated volunteers. All Puffing Billy trips depart and return from Belgrave in the Dandenong Ranges, only 40 km from Melbourne, Victoria.
However, a round trip may be commenced at any Puffing Billy station if the timetable permits. Individual tickets can be purchased on the day of travel at any Puffing Billy station.
